The Captain Britain Blog wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As Christmas draws ever nearer it’s time to wind down and relax at the Captain Britain Blog, but not before one last post this year to spread some festive cheer.

Captain Britain Christmas

The blog will return early January 2015, but before I get to that and give you a sneaky peek at a new feature coming next year let’s look back at what the last twelve months have meant for Captain Britain.

I think 2014 was a good year for Captain Britain simply because he was thrust back into the public eye due to his appearance in the current Avengers event Time Runs Out. Which I covered here, here and speculated on here.

Also of interest was the Cap influenced Spider-UK in the latest Spider-Man story line, but it’s the bearded, on eyed Captain Britain in Avengers that has got folks talking.

Captain Britain New Avengers 30

Will this appearance culminate in a new Captain Britain comic in 2015? I’d love to see one and with Marvel releasing a vast amount of titles in 2014 it puzzles me that Cap wasn’t among them, perhaps Time Runs Out have an exclusive on using him until the event finishes ?

Cinema wise Cap seems to be no closer to a silver screen debut despite Chris Claremont coming out in his favour. Marvel have a tremendous amount of movies planned so surely Cap could guest star in one at least? Yet again just like the no-show of a Cap comic Marvel could be losing out big time if they don’t put Cap on film. I discussed here how there are really no hurdles to a Captain Britain film other than Marvel not being aware of the potential of such.

The only Cap certainty for 2015 is that this blog will continue its sideways look at Captain Britain and with the sites second anniversary coming in June I thought it was time to try a new feature idea. Click here for a look behind the scenes at what’s to come.

The idea is to build a review/index of all Captain Britain’s comic appearances in a format similar to the informative and very funny Dr Who Discontinuity guide. Similar reviews exist – some on this site – but this feature will be more organised with specific categories to hopefully inform and entertain Cap fans new and old. Let me know what you think in the page comments.

Before I sign off it only remains for me to thank the following supporters of the blog.

The whole crew over at Avengers UK, for not only sharing my work on Facebook but also for creating some of the best written and drawn Captain Britain and Marvel fan fiction you will ever read. Go and have a look and then come back and tell me how impressed you were.

News reporter @Arbitrarygenius deserves special mention for her investigative work that bought to light the rudest piece of Captain Britain merchandise ever.

@Mothtwiceborn on Twitter has been a constant supporter of the blog and his retweets have been instrumental in driving the flow of viewers to the site from Twitter.

Abs who is not only the most frequent and constructive commentator, but also provided the scans and thus the idea for one of my favourite posts.

Last but by no means least thanks to you if you liked the site on Facebook, told a friend about the site, shared a post or a tweet or just read the blog. I hope you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read and come back for more in 2015.

So Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the fans of the blog, I will be back early January 2015. OK I might be back sooner if any interesting Cap news appears, I mean I love Christmas but its only one day a year whereas Captain Britain is a three hundred and sixty-five day a year obsession!
